Reconstruction of the area surrounding wooden Huntian Manor of the duke of Pszczyna.
The Huntian Manor in Promnice was build in 1861 in neogothic style. There were four periods of history of its surrounding. First connected with the specific hunting function. In that period the castle stood among the group of trees. There was free of trees zone between that group and a forest border. Second period when castle was under the influence of Princess Daisy, brought lime avenue. Any other significal changes were done. In the third period owners of the estate - family Hochberg von Pless, decided to plant there some introduced trees. There were created some park enclosures. Mostly all of this still keeps the character of the castle as hunting residence. After II World War lack of professional care caused change of this character. Surrounding of the castle became an eclectic park like area, full of introduced trees with different crown forms and colours. Same new eclectical objects appeared there in consideration of recent hotel function of residence. This function ensure a best possible care for the castle, so the mentioned objects have to stay there but most of new plant must be replanted out of the area.

Krzysztof M. ROSTAŃSKI: Otoczenie Wili Caro. w: Rocznik Muzeum w Gliwicach. t.XVI, s. 113-122, Gliwice 2001
In designing Villa Caro's immediate surroundings the main idea was to achieve a garden similar in style to that of the end of the 19th century and, as far as possible, similar to the original one, when it had been at its best. Here it was necessary to take into consideration the fact that because of new buildings in the area, the garden would also have to be smaller than it had been originally. Because of the lack of iconographic materials we looked for inspiration in designs that were still available and came from the same period. Both written sources as well as existing parks in Silesia were taken into consideration.
Villa Caro's garden was designed so that it would require as little work as possible. It was assumed that the paths around the building would not be used often. They were designed as narrow and softly winding pathways. The entrance to the property was moved from Dolnych Walów Street to Studzienna Street. To hide the view of the nearby buildings a hornbeam hedge was planted along the fencing from the north and east. The air-conditioning system was installed near the place where the garage used to be. To hide it from view a wooden screen with climbing ivy was used. The only high trees taken into consideration in this design were the original plane-trees that were still in good condition. In reference to the attractive shrubs found in 19th century gardens, the same was introduced here. At first, and to lessen the gardening work-load, there were to be only conifers, e.g. Lawson's cypresses, Chinese junipers, Korean fir-trees, but later, to give more colour to the garden, rhododendrons, deutzias, jasmine and diervilla were added.
The designers were Ewa Pfutzner and Krzysztof M. Rostanski

Are healthy but can bring some danger in the case of strong wind because of their size. There were given conditions for area re-constructions being safe for the trees. Some new plantations along the wall should be taken under considerations.

Recovering the landscapes of Upper Silesia - the background of the living estates called "familok" houses. The area of Katowice Agglomeration and its surrounding in huge percentage is represented by degraded and re-cultivated territories, which are associated by living estates, quite often with historical value. Still actual question is proper treatment of them. On these areas appear spontaneous ruderal flora, which often show exceptional aesthetic values. Such places have important ecological potential. With the proper attitude such territories can became park network with exceptional features unfolding local values and identity. To reach this target important is preference for local flora. Joining typical local plants with the architecture can in the synergic way stress exceptional local values, The article give criteria for area evaluation which can help to enhance local identity.
